Steve Roberts

Steve Roberts was born the son of a dad who was a small-town golf pro and a mom who managed the golf pro shop while tending to her young family. Later as the family moved around Ohio in search of more rewarding work for Dad, a brother and two sisters showed up at the family table and demanded to be fed. Steve's Dad worked in various factories from Cincinnati, to Bucyrus, to Lima while his mom took care of getting the four kids educated, mannered and citified. His parents taught by the rule of wise sayings, starting in the family's younger years with: "If I have to come in there and straighten you out, you'll wish I hadn't" and "If you do that again, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week." Later advice and counsel included: "Hard work is good for you, it clears out the pores."

Steve worked his way through Ohio State University where he earned a BS degree. After the Army Steve and his new bride, Jane, moved to the Detroit area to work for Ford Motor Company. At night he earned an MBA from Wayne State University. Jane and Steve live in Dearborn, Michigan where they raised four children and now chase after 12 grandchildren.

Graduating from 30 years in the automotive industry in Detroit and Europe as well as surviving several attacks by old man Cancer, mainly through the decade of the 1990's, Steve decided to develop some of his ideas and views into stories, fictional and non-fiction. He had written short stories, poems and songs as far back as high school but they were mainly for the fun and aggravation of family and friends.

The inspiration for his work is to attempt to write compelling stories, usually based on a true events, that will entertain and inform. As a storyteller, Steve says the idea is to attract the reader to a fictional story with the backdrop such as - the coalmining industry, the auto industry, or surviving hardship - that he or she might not pick up if it were written as a non-fictional book.
